Chris has been in law enforcement full-time since 2012 with the Webster Police Department. He has also been serving as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps Reserve since 2008. His passion for ice hockey started at a young age, when he began playing ice hockey at around four years old. His passion for ice hockey continues with his family, as he has multiple children currently playing youth hockey. Chris also has and continues to coach multiple youth hockey teams. More important than his family’s passion for hockey is their passion for service and helping those who need it most. Chris and his family and friends started Pick-Up Pucks Hockey, Inc. in 2023 as a venture to further serve and support those men, women, and families that work tirelessly to protect and take care of our communities.
Why is Pick-Up Pucks Hockey Inc. important to you? -“Pick-Up Pucks Hockey, Inc. is important to me because I’ve witnessed first-hand the personal and family struggles that far too-often arise with those that serve. Witnessing and experiencing the emotional, physical, and mental traumas endured by service members and first responders inspired me to do more for these heroes that have devoted their lives to duty and service. Ice hockey is not only a great therapy but provides the perfect opportunity to raise funds and bring awareness to the quiet needs of those that serve.”

Why is Pick-Up Pucks Hockey Inc. important to you? - "Pick-Up Pucks Hockey Inc. is important to me because during my time as a Police Officer I was injured on duty, living on workers compensation for 2 years, ultimately being forced out of the profession due to the injury. I wanted to find a way to help First Responders, Military Members, Veterans and their families, and Pick-Up Pucks Hockey Inc. awarded me the opportunity to do so while also doing something I love, playing hockey.
Adam Cameron has been in law enforcement for over 17 years and presently works for the Shrewsbury Police Department. His oldest son Noah, who is deaf, began playing hockey and Adam took to the ice to help make sure Noah communicate effectively with his coaches. He quickly fell in love with the sport and started playing with Pick Up Pucks shortly after. He may only have two years of hockey under his belt, but you’d think he’s been playing for at least a year and a half if you see him out there!
Why is Pick-Up Pucks Hockey Inc. important to you? - "Pick-Up Pucks is important to me because there are many of us out there that have, and will, need help at some point. Military and first responders have a difficult job and they sacrifice a lot for others on a regular basis. If I can participate in this organization and make sure there’s always some type of safety net out there for those in need than that’s the least I can do. If I get to play hockey while doing it, even better!!"
Pick-Up Pucks Hockey started off as a "pick up" skate on Tuesday nights. At the beginning there were only 10-12 members who would come out and skate and play mini games. Over the past year we have grown to 65 members, which allows the first responders to fit in a game when their schedule allows. There are consistently 20 skaters and 2 goalies weekly, allowing for more competitive fun! The growth of the Tuesday night pick up skate, has allowed us to form a Pick-Up Pucks Hockey Team to compete in first responder tournaments, most notably they will be making their debut in the 2024 BFit Heroes Cup Hockey Tournament!
The Narc Ness Monsters is a hockey team comprised of First Responders and Military Members from the Central Mass area. NNM Hockey was founded by PUPs President, Chris Trainor. NNM will be making their third trip to the BFit Heroes Cup Hockey Tournament as the hit the ice in July of 2024. NNM Hockey also plays against local Police Department and Fire Department hockey teams in Charity Games.
